Yellow Card Secures $40 Million Strategic Investment to Expand Global Stablecoin Infrastructure

Yellow Card has announced the successful close of a $40 million strategic funding round, strengthening its position as a leading provider of stablecoin infrastructure for businesses operating across emerging markets.

The round attracted investment from SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital, alongside additional strategic investors. The latest raise brings Yellow Card’s total equity financing to more than $120 million.

The new capital will support the expansion of Global USD Accounts, Yellow Card’s end-to-end dollar account solution for businesses, while accelerating the development of the stablecoin payment rails that connect businesses to markets worldwide.

Scaling Infrastructure for Cross-Border Business

According to the company, the funding will enable broader access to Global USD Accounts, allowing businesses to hold U.S. dollars, hold and swap stablecoins, manage treasury functions, and collect or disburse local currencies through domestic payment rails across more than 50 countries.

The accounts are built on infrastructure that Yellow Card has operated for several years. The investment will also support the company’s continued expansion into Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, while increasing local payment rail connectivity and currency coverage to support global scale.

Yellow Card noted that Global USD Accounts are already used by several enterprise customers, including Visa and Western Union.

Institutional Confidence in Stablecoin Infrastructure

The participation of SC Ventures signals growing institutional confidence in stablecoin-based financial infrastructure.

Alex Manson, CEO of SC Ventures, said the investment reflects confidence in Yellow Card’s ability to build the infrastructure required for wider stablecoin adoption.

“Stablecoins are here to stay, but their adoption will depend on robust infrastructure and clear real-world utility. Yellow Card is building those rails for businesses across Africa, enabling them to access and move value efficiently across markets. We believe YC is well positioned to scale across Africa and beyond and look forward to supporting its next phase of growth.”

Sony Innovation Fund’s participation highlights increasing interest from global technology investors in payment infrastructure built on stablecoins.

Austin Noronha, Managing Director at Sony Ventures-US, said Yellow Card’s combination of APIs, local fiat payment rails, institutional-grade security, and a regulatory-first approach positions it to make stablecoin-powered payments practical for financial institutions and enterprises. He added that the company is well placed to expand beyond Africa into emerging markets across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.

Expanding Stablecoin Rails for Financial Institutions

Yellow Card says the next phase of its strategy extends beyond serving businesses to connecting financial institutions directly to stablecoin infrastructure.

Chris Maurice, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Yellow Card, described the investment as a strong endorsement of the infrastructure the company has spent years developing.

“This investment is a vote of confidence in what we’ve spent years building: the infrastructure that lets global businesses move money without traditional correspondent banking. But the bigger opportunity now is connecting banks themselves to stablecoin rails. When institutions plug into this infrastructure, they’re not just modernizing payments, they’re unlocking dollar access for millions of businesses that traditional correspondent banking has left behind. Money should move at the speed and convenience of the internet, and increasingly, banks want to move with it.”

Building a Global Payments Network

Yellow Card has facilitated more than $10 billion in transaction volume across its network and currently supports more than 50 currencies.

The company also holds relevant licenses, authorizations, and registrations across 22 jurisdictions spanning North America, Europe, and Africa.

In addition to its latest funding, Yellow Card has established strategic partnerships with Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and Coinbase, positioning the company as an infrastructure provider for global payment networks seeking to integrate stablecoin capabilities into cross-border financial services.

The latest investment underscores continued institutional interest in stablecoin infrastructure as financial institutions and global payment providers increasingly explore digital dollar-based payment rails to improve cross-border transactions and treasury management.
