ACCRA, GHANA
Digital finance leaders, regulators, and innovators gather today at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City, for the landmark Accra Stablecoin Conference 2026. Powered by Bitnob and Tether, and hosted by Chasing Mavericks, the event centers on the transformative theme: “Borderless Money: How Stablecoins Are Rewriting Payments”.
The conference opens this morning with a high-profile keynote from Sharon-Rose Lithur, Head of the Innovation and Cross Border Office at the Bank of Ghana, focusing on the future of cross-border payments and the evolving role of central banks. Following the opening remarks, Mosa Issachar of Bitnob introduces Bitnob Enterprise, unveiling the critical infrastructure required for global stablecoin payments.
Throughout the day, attendees participate in series of strategic panels designed to position Africa at the forefront of the digital asset revolution. A morning panel featuring experts from Tether, Yellow Card Nigeria, HoneyCoin, and the Bank of Ghana explores how stablecoins are becoming the core of African payment systems. Technical sessions follow, including a fireside chat with Edward Amewu, CTO of Bitnob, on building enterprise-grade stacks for financial institutions, and a deep dive into constructing Africa’s stablecoin payment rails with leaders from WeWire, Vaulta Digital Assets, and Ghana Dot Com (GDC).
The afternoon agenda shifts toward the critical landscape of governance and compliance. Representatives from Binance, KoinKoin, and the Web 3 Africa Group join the Bank of Ghana to discuss building practical Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) frameworks specifically for the Ghanaian market. These discussions are complemented by a presentation from Reap on the transition from adoption to infrastructure and a final panel on developing compliant stablecoin products for African consumers.
The event concludes with a forward-looking keynote by Mensah Thompson of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Ghana, who identifies tokenization as the next frontier for financial infrastructure. The formal program wraps up with group discussions aimed at moving “From Conversation to Action” to build a collaborative stablecoin economy.
The momentum continues into the evening with the Official AfterParty starting at 18:00 at the Tunnel Lounge. Sponsored by Diamond Sponsors Reap and HoneyCoin, the celebration provides a premier networking environment for the continent’s fintech pioneers.
